Surprise! Guess who’s back from hiatus! It’s so good to be back on my blog after a few months away. As you all know, I’m currently a college student and sometimes life gets in the way of the things we’re passionate about. Around the time of my last post (which was all the way in February) I ran into a ton of financial problems with school and it became increasingly difficult for me to manage my finances with the income I was getting from both blogging, photography, and odd jobs here and there. Since I’ve progressed so deep into my academic career, financing options from the government began to phase out for me and more and more of my personal income that I used to use for clothes and superfluousΒ spending went towards tuition, books, and rent that used to be covered by grants and student loans. I ended up taking on a string of full time jobs that first started with a food delivery company (that couldn’t pay me nearly enough as I needed) then a small restaurant (that couldn’t give me the hours that I needed) and finally Buffalo Wild Wings.

Since I had to work nearly 35 hours a week to make ends meet, a lot of my extracurricular activity had to fall to the side as I began to prioritize my life around school and work. I owed money to my landlord that accrued during my 2 months of job searching, bills had to be paid and I needed to figure out how to pay for summer classes. So in the end, I put myself on hiatus from cytherial. It was incredibly difficult for me to put this project on hold because I felt like I was just beginning to break into the industry. But clothes cost a lot of money, and I hated not being able to pay my photographers the money they deserved for taking such amazing photos of me. However, I did my best to keep you guys up to date with my life through Instagram, and in the past couple of months, my content on Instagram has become so much better than it was in the past, I began to discover new ways of editing photos, and I’m much more selective of the content I put on my feed in order to create a well curated theme.

On top of that, being on an even tighter budget forced me to be more wary of the way I spent my money, sales became my best friend and I had to get creative with my closet. That’s not to say my life as been a drag, hustling isn’t all that fun, but I try to let loose whenever I can. June was a particularly fun month for me as I was able to take a staycation in San Diego at the gorgeous Loews Coronado Resort with my out of state family and I also got the opportunity to take a roadtrip up north to Davis and San Francisco a few weeks later with some friends for my best friend’s graduation.

So where does this leave me now? Well, I’m still trying to get my life together, become a more responsible adult, and graduate from college. I’m constantly bombarded by setbacks that always seems to end up pushing me past my limits, but there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve been taught from a young age that God never, ever hands us things in life that we cannot handle. We either push through and never give up, or we can throw in the towel. And I’m not the kind of man that gives up. I might fail miserably and come out worse than I came in, but I will always get up and try again.

I’ve been planning my comeback for a few weeks now, and I’ve been trying to work out issues of revamping the site, a new clothing budget, photography, brand collaborations, and new blog content. But its one thing to plan and plan for days, but it’s another to jump in and put it into motion. So here is my comeback post, published right before I have to jet off to a night shift at work!

I was going through my old posts and I just realized that it has been over a year (by about 2 weeks) since I started on this incredible journey as a style blogger. It feels weird to realize how quickly this past year has flown and how much I’ve grown as a person and as a content creator. As I take a moment to renew my domain for cytherial.com, it’s amazing to look back on this past year. I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. :]
