Modern day clowns may be scary, but old school jesters are mysterious pranksters that graced the courts of Europe. I got this mask while I was on a shopping trip to the Fullerton Buffalo Exchange and thought that it would make a quick, simple and elegant costume that didn’t require a lot of fuss (except for maybe keeping the mask from slipping off my face!) I was really surprised to find how good of a selection Buffalo has on Halloween costumes and accessories and since they’re all gently used, you pay a fraction of what you normally would at a costume store.
I love a good occasion to dress up and who said you can’t have a dapper costume that wasn’t Dracula themed? The shirt was another thrift store find from the Pasadena Crossroads Trading Co. location. The deep oxblood of the shirt perfectly matches the fabric of the mask and the polka dots add a little bit of fun without distracting from the opulence of the mask. The thing I like best about this look is that it literally goes from office to party in a manner of seconds and feels extremely expensive even though I didn’t have to break the bank in order to put it together.
