It’s been a week since I graduated from college, and it still hasn’t sunk in that I’m now a college graduate. Maybe its because I haven’t really had time to rest and reorient myself to postgrad life since I went into an interview for Black Orchid Denim and got hired as an intern on the spot right after I finished finals. Then I went back to Riverside to finish out my last few days of work at Buffalo Wild Wings and move back to LA. These past 2 weeks have just been insane.
But this post isn’t going to be about my internship experience (that’ll be the start of a new series that I’ll be getting into next week). But rather about this last amazing adventure I had with my friends.
On the Tuesday of finals week, my friends and I had this crazy idea to drive out to Joshua Tree National Park to check out the stars and have one last crazy night out with me before I graduated. I was frantically trying to finish up my last take home final before we went but unfortunately, I didn’t finish. I worked on it on the way to the park and there was just something about working on an essay under a clear, star filled night sky in the desert with some friends that motivated me in ways I’ve never felt before.
That morning, we woke up to view the sunrise together. It was incredibly scary to climb up these rocks without much support besides my friends. I’m not particularly scared of heights, but the threat of falling a couple dozen feet sure makes a boy more careful. It was so surreal to view the sunrise with all of the colors, the stars, and venus in the distance. I really could not have asked for a better way to end my college career than out in the desert with my very best friends.
Now, a week later, I’m working at my new internship in LA and learning so much in this new environment. I’m so excited to introduce you guys to this new chapter in my life. The Intern Diaries will start next week!
